La Marina Alta
It has an extension of 759 km2 and a population of 188.500 people spread over 33 municipalities with Denia as the capital of the region.80% of the population lives in the coast towns of Denia, Javea, Calpe, Moraira, Benisa, Ondara and Gata de Gorgos, occupying only the 25% of the land.
This implies large areas with very little population and towns with few inhabitants, with a very different way of living.The “Marina Alta” it is surrounded by mountains; on the South by Bernia, on the North by Segaria, on the West by Caball Vert, Coll de Rates and Serrella and on the East with the coastlines of Les Rotes, Montgo, Cabo de San Antonio, Cabo de la Nao and Peñon de Ifach, and the sand plains of Les Marines. Four rivers; Bullent, Racons, Girona and Gorgos, creates the valleys of Laguar, Ebo, Alcalá and Gallinera and the “marjal” of Pego-Oliva.
The region offers possibilities of Fish and Game, and visits to historic sites, such as caves, lagoons, valleys and natural forests, coasts, hiking and mountain biking tours, etc.
